ACROSS THOSE MILES
A pallet of dilapidated old postcards on my palm
Sobbing while interpreting
each word.
Reminiscing the season
spend together,
Your delicate embrace, your
affectionate kiss
Running
hand in hand through a golden wheat field
Smiling all the way
through the warmth of day light.
My fingers exuberantly caressing
your sun-soaked face and sleek hair
Bestowing solace at
heart and glitter on the lips.
It’s been a prolonged
time I have witnessed something from you
Separated by country
mile and divided by seas.
The world seems to
crumble and fall apart.
Days turned to years
and years, fuelled by only hope
The silent echo of the
war festering on my ears.
Though miles divide,
and time may sway
Amidst the chaos,
resentment and solitude
I hold the rigid belief
that you will return.
Eventually the waves will settle
Soon, once more, you will be beside
me
Soon, once more the heart will
encounter ecstasy, exuberance and contentment.
